The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that Craig Berube has been hired as the hockey club's head coach. Berube, 58, becomes the 32nd head coach in Leafs history and the 41st person to hold the position overall.

Berube has over a decade of NHL head coaching experience, most recently with the St. Louis Blues from 2018 to 2022. Under his guidance, the Blues won the Stanley Cup in 2019 and advanced to the Western Conference Finals in 2020 and 2022.

Prior to his time in St. Louis, Berube was the head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers from 2013 to 2015. He also served as an assistant coach with the Washington Capitals from 2010 to 2013 and the Pittsburgh Penguins from 2006 to 2009.

Berube is known for his strong defensive systems and his ability to get the most out of his players. He is also respected for his leadership and his ability to connect with his players on a personal level.

The Maple Leafs are hoping that Berube can bring his winning ways to Toronto. The team has not won a playoff series since 2004 and has not won the Stanley Cup since 1967.
