Craig Berube: A Coaching Journey
From Player to Head Coach
Craig Berube, born December 17, 1965, is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who is currently the head coach of the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL).
A STORied Playing Career
As a player, Berube spent 17 seasons in the NHL, playing for the Philadelphia Flyers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames, Washington Capitals, and New York Islanders. He was known for his physical play and toughness, and he won the Stanley Cup with the Flames in 1989.
Transition to Coaching
After retiring as a player, Berube began his coaching career as an assistant coach with the Flyers in 2006. He was promoted to head coach in 2013, but was fired two seasons later. He then spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the Blues before being named head coach in 2018.
Success with the Blues
In his first season as head coach, Berube led the Blues to their first Stanley Cup championship in franchise history. He has since established himself as one of the top coaches in the NHL, known for his ability to motivate his players and get the most out of his team.
